CASH AND VOUCHERS ASSISTANCE IN EMERGENCY RESPONSE OPERATIONS
Cash and vouchers assistance (CVA) refers to all programmes where cash transfers or vouchers for goods or services are provided directly to aid recipients. Concretely, this means that humanitarian organisations provide cash or vouchers to the persons in need, who are then free to decide how to best satisfy their first vital needs.
The International Federation of Red-Cross and Red-Crescent Societies (IFRC) has been encouraging for many years actors of the movement to implement this modality in their emergency response activities.
In order to support the National Societies of the Indian Ocean, PIROI has led a study on how to integrate and implement CVA in the strategic orientations and operational activities. The study took place between August and November 2021, it led to the delivery of a practical action plan.
This new e-mini-learning invites you to follow an introductory module on Cash and vouchers assistance, developed by CALP, in order to better understand what this modality consists of and how to implement it during an emergency response operation. You will also find additional resources from the Red-Cross and Red-Crescent Movement and other humanitarian networks.
