Protection, Gender, Inclusion (PGI)
Emergencies accentuate existing inequalities between people (on the basis of their sex, gender, age, health, social status, ethnicity, etc.) and the incidence of sexual and gender-based violence, violence against children and trafficking in human beings often increase during and after disasters.
These differences are also strengths, which must be recognised and incorporated into all disaster risk management efforts.
This training will allow you to better understand the issues relating to protection, gender and inclusion by suggesting practical ways to engage with all members of the community, respond to their differing needs and draw on their capacities in the most non-discriminatory and effective way
