Emergency Needs Assessment

As disaster risk management actors are increasingly faced with complex crises, needs assessment is an essential activity to develop action plans and respond to the needs of the most vulnerable populations affected by a crisis, within an acceptable timeframe and in a coordinated manner with all stakeholders and sectors.

In order to be ready to respond as quickly as possible in case of a disaster would happen, the National Societies, with the support of the PIROI, have organized workshops ahead of the cyclonic season to review the tools that will be used during the needs assessments, such as household survey, market research and key informant interview frames. In addition, emergency response team members in the Indian Ocean region were trained in needs assessment, planning and emergency response, thanks to a regional training organized by PIROI.

In this month of November, you will discover new resources ( e-learning, videos, guides, handbooks), that will help you to conduct an Emergency Needs Assessment (ENA) in the best conditions.
