While the 2023-2024 cyclonic season officially started mid-November in the South-West Indian Ocean, this new edition of our E-mini-learnings offers a series of useful resources to address the different steps of the disaster risk management cycle.
You will find a brand new training course developed by PIROI - French Red Cross, a report of disasters around the world in 2022, a virtual experience of a humanitarian response operation and the Sendai Framework to understand the international commitments on disaster risk reduction.

Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction was developed to guide efforts on disaster risk reduction in the period between 2015 and 2030. The framework was adopted during the Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, which was held in Sendai, Japan, from 14 to 18 March 2015.The Sendai Framework recognizes that Member States have the primary responsibility to prevent and reduce disaster risk.
In 90 Days is designed to explore the trade-offs and challenging decisions humanitarian field managers face while responding to crises. Learners can choose from 3 distinct scenarios and will have to face complicated decisions to manage limited resources and competing pressures to alleviate suffering in the most sustainable way.
This training platform explores the fundamentals of humanitarian action, operation management, environmental impact, protection and well-being of humanitarian workers. It is destined for those starting their career in the sector or transitioning from the development sector. This training is developed by the ‘Humanitarian Leadership Academy’ created by ‘Save the Children’.
