‘Behaviour to adopt in a flooded environment’ training course
Open to all (adults and children over 11) and held at least once every year, this innovative training course aims to:
- Create awareness about flood-related dangers;
- Identify the limits of engagement, protection and assistance to a person swept away by the current, and the behaviour to adopt in the event of flooding
Organised in partnership with the Gens de Rivière training provider, Météo France weather centre, and the Hydrological Monitoring Unit of the local Directorate for Environment, Planning Development and Housing, the course is divided into several phases:
- Experience sharing and scientific knowledge: Meteorological specificities of Reunion Island, peculiarities of its rivers, reading and interpretation of water movements, etc.
- Role play and case study : Participants are confronted with the phenomenon of flooding by working on realistic scenarios in a whitewater stadium.
