THE AUXILIARY ROLE OF THE RED-CROSS / RED-CRESCENT AND LEGAL TOOLS
National Societies of the Red-Cross / Red-Crescent movement act as auxiliaries to the public authorities of their own countries in agreement with international and national laws as well as the fundamental principles of the Movement.
In September 2021, a regional workshop on Disaster Law was held by PIROI in partnership with IFRC’s ‘Disaster Law Program’. This three day event was designed to support key stakeholders from countries of the South-West Indian ocean on the integration of International Disaster Response Laws (IDRL) and strengthen the National Societies' work as auxiliaries on Disaster Risk Management through legal governance.
Following the regional event, this e-mini learning will enable you to gain a better understanding of the specificity of the auxiliary role, define the means to strengthen this role through legal tools and advocacy with a focus on international disaster assistance.
