Raising awareness: Prevention of natural risks on Reunion Island

Availabilities :

Volunteers can help us dialy or occasionaly depending on availability

Minimum age :

18 years old

Are you interested in the topic of natural risks? Would you like to run activities, particularly those involving children? Participate in the ‘Paré pas Paré’ (‘Ready or not?’) project and raise awareness in Reunion’s population about the risk of natural disasters.

Main opportunities:

  • Running awareness sessions in schools
  • Running family preparation workshops in local communities
  • Manning a booth at public events: Grand Raid mountain race, Science Festival, Playa Tour, etc.
  • Developing outreach tools as part of the ‘Paré pas Paré’ project

These activities do not require any particular skills and are open to everyone, whatever your age, experience or how much time you can give the project.

This is one of PIROI’s priority focus areas in the Indian Ocean, particularly when responding after a cyclone, flooding or epidemic. The activities you might carry out include:

  • Treatment and distribution of drinking water in emergency situations
  • Promoting hygiene
  • Sanitation
