The French Red Cross/PIROI and Bioforce, a leading humanitarian training organisation based in Lyon, have signed a partnership agreement to develop the skills of Indian Ocean humanitarian and civil protection professionals.

The signature of this partnership contributes to complementary strategic goals for both organisations: capacity building of regional organisations for Bioforce, and strengthening and development of training for PIROI. Three priorities will be covered under the partnership programme: strengthening capacities in training course planning and design, creating an online training portfolio, and developing qualifying courses to be ‘co-certified’ by both organisations.

The first step in implementing this partnership took place last August with the organisation of a regional training course on ‘Logistics and Supply Chain in a Humanitarian Context’, which brought together approximately 20 Red Cross professionals as well as participants from Reunion Island’s Fire and Rescue Service and the Regional Public Health Authority.

Bioforce is a training and vocational guidance institute for humanitarian professionals. Located near Lyon, it supports and trains more than 1,000 people every year in humanitarian- and development-specific professions (logistics officer, administrator, project ordinator, water/sanitation specialist, etc.)
