Since 2020 PIROI has partnered with the University of Reunion Island to establish and implement a Master’s degree in Risks and Environment at the University’s Le Tampon campus in the south. Following a successful first year, a new intake of students was accepted for 2021–2022. The course continues to offer professional training on health and environmental risk management, as well as on the use of disaster risk management tools and methods adapted to the Indian Ocean context.
The continuing education format of this post-graduate degree allow students to combine theoretical content – taught by practitioners experienced in risk management and humanitarian assistance – with work experience at a professional organisation.
