PIROI recently invited all of its programme members to review the past two years and define the goals for its upcoming programme.
PIROI organised a meeting of all its partners on 29 and 30 October 2019 in Reunion Island. The Presidents and Secretaries-General of the Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies of the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, and Tanzania, as well as representatives from the French Red Cross (FRC), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) met in Saint-Denis for two days.
Partners’ meetings are held every other year, and this one provided an opportunity for participants to report back on the progress of cooperation activities carried out between 2017 and 2019, and to identify priorities for the next two-year period.
Together attendees were able to reaffirm the importance of disaster risk reduction, epidemic control, and community health activities; discuss the growing need for training; and think about how to optimise the Movement’s disaster preparedness and response actions. Participants also had the opportunity to watch a videoconference hosted by the Red Cross’s Global First Aid Reference Centre.
