As part of the regional Disaster Risk Management programme, the PIROI Center – in partnership with the Bioforce Institute – organised technical training on project cycle management in order to build Programme Managers’ capacities. The five-day course was held 3 to 7 June 2019.

Sixteen people received training, including participants from PIROI-member National Societies, International Solidarity Volunteers (VSIs) on assignment for France Volontaires, members of the International Committee of the Red Cross and of Médecins du Monde Madagascar. The diversity of trainees is due to the fact that PIROI’s courses are open to both Red Cross and non-Red Cross participants, and courses are always tailored to attendees’ needs and backgrounds.

All aspects of project cycles were covered in detail during the course, including various project phases such as preparation of time schedules or activity tracking charts, as well as final project evaluation.

As a result of training, participants are now able to apply a project cycle management approach in professional disaster management contexts, and to implement various methods related to project cycles.
